Working with a team for the research portion, we conducted research, discussions and interviews with professionals in the fashion industry and an owner of an indigenous fashion company, insights were gathered of different perspectives within business and morals in fashion. In thinking about how to combat appropriation in fashion, came the idea and prototype for Crafted, an app utilizing 3D scanning techniques to automatically link scanned designs and objects to historic references by analyzing patterns, silhouettes, shapes, colors and textures.

With only about 4 weeks I had to conduct research and turn insights into a prototype of a solution and prepare a presentation booth to physically show my concept and discuss my project at an open school-wide event. Future’s thinking was a new concept for me, this class really taught me how to employ design thinking and think bigger, it pushed me to create quality work fast.
A spread from the compendium given out at the presentation booth explaining my solution, ‘Crafted’.
Crafted is an app used to link scanned designs and objects to historic references. Here’s how to use it!
Crafted is an app that could be implemented as a design practice requirement concerning ethics and originality or just as a source for inspiration and education. I created the app prototype with Adobe XD and made a compendium of my research and outcome for the project. This project taught me how to dive deep into design thinking and really think in terms of designing systems for a better future. As well as helping me to discover a passion for creating better human centered solutions for the future.
A spread about how to implement change with this idea.
